St Mary's Parish dates back to the mid 18th Century with the present church of St Mary's, on Bridge Street , being  opened on September 15th 1835 and consecrated on 24th September 1947.   Click here to read more about the history

This is a City Centre Parish so the parish embraces families and parishioners in urban and suburban situations as well as business environments.  The church is at the city entrance by road and rail from Wearmouth Bridge and accessible from many bus routes.
